Have questions? We’ve got answers.

  • What is Sword Health?

Sword Health connects you with expert clinical care and easy-to-use tech from home. Looking to improve your physical function or eliminate pain? Check out Sword's digital health programs. Guided by experts, all with physiotherapy degrees.

  • What digital therapy programs does Sword Health offer and which one is right for me?

With access to Sword Health, you can join one of our three digital therapy programs: Thrive, Bloom, or Move.

Each of the Sword programs were created to treat and support specific physical limitations:

    • Thrive is digital physiotherapy for those struggling with chronic joint or back pain.

    • Move is a whole-body solution to address daily soreness, where you'll be connected with a physiotherapist who has expertise in physical training.
    • Bloom is a pelvic health solution for women who suffer from bladder leakage, bowel disorders, pelvic pain, and more.

Thrive, Move, and Bloom are all available to you and include access to a personalized program and a dedicated physiotherapist.
  • How does the program work?

After you enrol in one of Sword’s digital health solutions, you’ll match with a Clinical Specialist who holds a physiotherapy degree. They will work with you to develop a program tailored to your condition, goals, and needs. Depending on your program, you may receive a kit so that you and your physio can track your progress, provide feedback, and adjust your program accordingly.

  • How do I sign up?

Signing up is easy. After confirming your eligibility, simply create an account and download the Sword app. Inside the app, you will see the Sword solutions available for you to use.

  • I am already signed up. How do I log in to my program?

The Sword mobile app is the centralized hub for your program, where you can track your progress for Thrive, Bloom, and Move. Make sure you have the Sword app downloaded (available for download from Google Play or Apple App Store), so you can log in from there.

  • What is the time commitment?

For most of our programs, we recommend completing an average of 3-5 sessions per week. However, the exact time it takes to complete your program will be personal to you, and the time it takes to implement lifestyle changes is difficult to measure. Fortunately, our digital format allows you to take your program at your own pace, so you can complete your session when you want, where you want.

  • How does billing work with Sword Health?

Sword bills your insurance company first for your sessions. If your plan requires a co-pay, or if you reach your plan maximum, you may need to cover part of the cost out of pocket. You are billed for three types of milestones:

    • Initial Assessment: Your first virtual consultation with a licensed physiotherapist.
    • Therapy Engagement: Every time you complete 30 minutes of Sword therapy.
    • Follow up consultations: Additional consultations with your physiotherapist.

Bills are sent once a week. Each invoice shows the total cost of your sessions, how much your insurance covered, and what (if anything) you owe. Once Sword has billed a total of $800 CAD for Thrive or Bloom, or $600 CAD for Move, billing stops. After that, your care continues at no additional cost to you or your insurer.
  • Does Sword provide special offers to Desjardins Insurance members?

If you’re covered by Desjardins Insurance and enrol in Sword Thrive or Sword Bloom, you’ll automatically receive a one-time credit of up to $120 CAD toward your out-of-pocket costs. There’s nothing you need to do — the credit is applied automatically.

After the credit is used (or if you enrol in Sword Move, which does not include this credit), you’ll only pay any applicable co-pays or out-of-pocket costs up to your program’s annual cap. For Thrive and Bloom, costs are capped at $800 CAD per insured person over a 12-month period, while Move is capped at $600 CAD per insured person over a 12-month period.

Once the cap is reached, you can continue participating in the program for the remainder of the year at no additional cost.
  • What will I be billed for?

With Sword, you only pay for three types of milestones, or engagement activities:

    • Initial Assessment: Your first virtual consultation with a physiotherapist.
    • Therapy Engagement: Every time you complete **30 minutes of Sword therapy**.
    • Any additional check-ins with your physiotherapist.
  • How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy varies by province. Below are the full prices before your insurance coverage is applied. Your final cost depends on your specific plan and coverage balance.

    Alberta (AB)

    • Initial assessment: $140
    • 30 minutes of therapy or re-assessment calls: $115

    **Yukon (YT)**
    • Initial assessment: $118
    • 30 minutes of therapy or re-assessment calls: $106
  • How often will I be billed?

You’ll receive your bill every Saturday. Any charges will be processed automatically each week. Each invoice shows:

    • the total cost of your therapy sessions,
    • how much your insurance paid, and
    • what (if anything) you still owe.

Even if your balance is **$0 CAD**, you’ll still receive an invoice — this gives you a complete record of your therapy costs and what your insurance covered.
  • Is there a maximum I can be billed for?

Yes. There’s an $800 CAD billing cap for Thrive or Bloom, and a $600 CAD billing cap for Move. Once you’ve reached that amount, you won’t be charged anything more, even if you switch to a new program.

  • How can I check my invoices?

Your invoices are always easy to access:

    • You’ll find them in your Sword account under Billing Details (TBC).
    • A copy is also sent to you by email for your convenience.
  • What happens if I stop therapy?

If you don't engage in the program for two weeks (perform a new session through the device or contact your physiotherapist), your program will be closed. If you had already completed 15 minutes or more of therapy, you’ll be billed for one session before it closes.

If you later start a new therapy program (for example, moving from shoulder therapy to knee therapy), you’ll complete a new Initial Assessment and your therapy minutes reset. If you’ve already reached the $800 CAD billing cap, there won’t be any additional costs.

  • What if I switch to a new therapy program (e.g. from shoulder to knee)?

Switching to a new program works just like starting fresh. You’ll go through a new Initial Assessment, and your therapy minutes reset. Your old program will be closed, and if you had completed at least 15 minutes, one session will be billed from it. Once you’ve reached the $600 CAD or $800 CAD billing cap, though, you won’t be charged any extra — even if you start new programs.

  • What if my insurance ends or runs out?

If your insurance coverage ends or your plan balance runs out, you can still continue therapy with Sword by paying out of pocket. We’ll always notify you first and give you the choice to continue or stop.

  • When will I be asked for my credit card?

You’ll only need to provide a credit card if your insurance doesn’t cover your Initial Assessment or your first therapy milestone. If those are covered, we won’t ask for a card at enrolment.

Later, if your coverage runs out or you have co-pays, we’ll let you know and ask for your card to keep your therapy going.

A life free of pain starts here.
