Have questions? We’ve got answers.

  • What is Bloom?

Bloom is a next generation virtual pelvic health program developed by Sword Health. It addresses women’s pelvic health issues like bowel dysfunction, bladder disorders, pain from intimacy, bloating, discomfort, and pelvic pain. Bloom combines a Pelvic Health Specialist, an intravaginal biofeedback sensor, a tailored pelvic exercise program, and insightful resources to help you improve your pelvic floor health and function.

  • Who is Bloom for?

Bloom is designed for women and individuals with vaginal anatomy age 18 and older. It is offered as an additional program through your health plan. Bloom addresses pelvic conditions through adulthood, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause.

  • What does the Bloom solution consist of?

The Bloom program consists of the following components:

    • A Pelvic Health Specialist, who will work with you to create a customized plan to improve your pelvic health symptoms.
    • A tailored program with customized exercise sessions and relevant educational articles addressing your personal pelvic health needs and goals.
    • The Bloom Pod, an intravaginal, medical-grade, silicon device with a sensor that measures contraction and relaxation of pelvic floor muscles during your exercises. Your Pelvic Health Specialist uses this data to adjust your program.
    • The Sword Health mobile app, which you’ll use to follow your exercises and track your progress, and also to access educational resources
  • What is a Pelvic Health Specialist and what do they do?

All of Bloom's Pelvic Health Specialists are experts with years of experience focusing specifically on the pelvic floor and pelvic health. Bloom participants select a Pelvic Health Specialist to guide them through their Bloom program, and to answer questions along the way. The Pelvic Health Specialist provides an individualized exercise plan to the pelvic floor and pelvic girdle muscles and educates on anatomy, bladder/bowel habits, pain management strategies, and lifestyle modifications.

  • How does the program work?

Programs are designed by your Pelvic Health Specialist who will develop a tailored program that addresses your symptoms. Programs are customized based on your pelvic symptoms. In general, programs are designed to include three sessions a week. Based on your needs, the program may be adjusted by your Pelvic Health Specialist.

  • How much does Bloom cost?

Bloom is available at no additional cost as an additional program through your health plan. You do not need a referral from your doctor, and there are no copays or out-of-pocket costs.

  • What is the difference between Bloom and on-site pelvic-floor physical therapy (PT)?

Your virtual Bloom program can be completed in the privacy of home, and can be more convenient than on-site physical therapy. Onsite PT requires patients to travel to and from a clinic, and the travel time investment can be a reason some people do not complete the entire program. Because the Bloom program can be completed anytime and anywhere that’s convenient for you, you can stay consistent with the program even when you’re traveling.

  • Why does Bloom use an intravaginal device?

Some women experiencing pelvic health disorders have difficulties engaging (contracting and lengthening) their pelvic floor muscles. An intravaginal device is needed to accurately determine if the muscles are properly engaged and it provides real-time feedback that you can monitor during your exercises, and that your Pelvic Health Specialist will use to adjust your program as needed. External sensors do not accurately measure pelvic floor contracting and lengthening.

  • Will my employer know that I am enrolled in Bloom?

No. Bloom is a HIPAA-compliant program and all of the details of your program including participation, progress, and personal information are private. Our Pelvic Health Specialists meet with you over HIPAA-compliant channels, and all of your information is confidential.
